Background:
Bedlingtonshire Community High School is a secondary school and sixth form for boys and girls. The age range of the pupils is 13 to 18. It was designed as a technology college in 1998 and as such receives extra government funding in order to achieve clearly defined targets. The school opened as Bedlington Grammar School in 1926. Its school building refurbished in the summer 2003 is still in use alongside the main building opened in 1974 when the school became comprehensive. The school maintains a broad balance in curriculum. It is a community school and serve the whole area. Highly successful football, netball, cricket and athletic teams have always been a feature of this school. The school aims to promote learning as a life-long activity.
