Background:
Hexham Middle School occupies a site above Hexham overlooking the town. The two middle schools of Fellside and Beaumont were founded in 1976 when the county moved to a three-tier school system and these two schools merged in 1984 to create Hexham Middle School. The large site comprises two playing fields, a grade II listed main building, a canteen block, a brick Year 8 block and a newly constructed separate block for Year 5 pupils. The school also boasts good musical, sporting and artistic facilities. The school has clubs including information and communication technology, an award winning school newspaper, football and theatre productions. The school aims to provide a secure, stimulating and disciplined environment in which students can develop enquiring attitudes and achieve high standards of work.
