Background:

St Benet Biscop is a voluntary aided, Roman Catholic comprehensive school for boys and girls aged 13-18. It occupies a single site of 25 acres with playing fields laid out for football, rugby, hockey, rounders, cricket, tennis, athletics and volley ball. Each subject has a suite of specialist rooms. There are seven science laboratories, supported by two technicians and equipped to provide practical learning environments for biology, chemistry and physics. The technology area has been refurbished to include an ICT area. There are three ICT suites, an established wireless ICT network throughout the top school, including the mathematics, religious education and business studies departments. The learning resource centre is near the new ICT centre and the sixth form common room and houses a wide range of fiction and reference books of all ages, careers reference, books and pamphlets. There is also a wide range of individual activities available including tennis and badminton. The inter-form competition for football and netball is very competitive. Students also have the opportunity to take part in non-competitive activities such as gymnastics, fitness and chikung (martial arts). The school has strong links with area and county representative teams in football, netball, rugby, athletics and badminton. There are regular visits to the theatre, cinema and to art galleries and museums. Learning to value, learning to give, learning to achieve and growing in the peace of Christ.
