Background:

Now just over 25 years old, the school is housed in a modern, one-level building in a rural setting with 'vast' fields running down to the north bank of the River Tyne. The town of Prudhoe looks down on the village from the south side of the Tyne Valley. The school has 'many' extra-curricular achievements. The under-14 boys football team won their league and three of the school's netball teams were district champions, while the school has also won the area and Tynedale district athletics. Thirty-three of the children represent Tynedale in athletics at county level, and there are five county champions. There is an orchestra and a swing band, both of which represent the school in local festivals and present shows in the school. The school has won the National Association of Science Education Science Challenge, four pupils have had their plays broadcast on radio and a pupil was runner-up in the Simon Elvin Poetry competition. The school and pupils were involved in filming 'Bodger and Badger' for the BBC television series and the National Theatre visited the school in February. A 10-mile riverside walk is just one of the charity fund-raising events that the school is involved in.
